food & drink technology Africa 2016

For the second time an official German Pavilion is set up at food & drink technology Africa in Johannesburg, where 15 German companies are presenting their range of delivery and service solutions for the whole value chain: from processing and packaging of food, liquid food and beverages up to logistics.

About 156 million people live the Southern African region, equivalent to about 18 percent of the entire population of sub-Saharan Africa. Population growth, rising prosperity, changing consumer behavior, modern commercial structures – all these are factors that make the demand for modern food and beverages grow in this region.

As a gateway to the markets of Southern Africa, South Africa is continuously gaining in importance. The economic interaction of this country with its surrounding states – but also with other countries in Sub-Sahara Africa – has increased greatly. A large part of the food and beverages produced in South Africa is exported to neighboring countries, a development which is interlinked to the spread of South African retail chains in these countries.

The rising demand for processed and packaged products, liquid food and beverages, is reflected in rising imports of food processing machinery and packaging machinery. 2015 South Africa imported machinery and equipment worth 329 million Euros. With a market share of 17 per cent Germany is one of the most important trade partners of South Africa for this kind of machinery.

The German manufacturers of food processing and packaging machinery offer themselves as powerful partners for the expansion of the Southern African food and beverage industries. Their advanced technology and the variety of their products, which are optimally tailored to the specific customer requirements, strengthen the economic performance of Southern African manufacturers. The German Pavilion at food & drink technology Africa provides an excellent opportunity to meet the leading manufacturers of food processing, liquid food, beverage and packaging machinery and to learn about the latest developments and trends. German companies are looking forward to your visit.

The German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Engery (BMWi), the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and VDMA (German Engineering Federation) Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association wish you an agreeable stay and a successful visit to this presentation.
