Welcome to the German Pavilion!

Germany as a leading maritime and shipbuilding country and the largest exporter of high-tech marine equipment worldwide is a reliable partner of the global offshore oil & gas industry since many years. German firms are of international renown mainly for their quality approach, innovative capacity, top-class engineering, reliability and timeliness.

Although Germany has only a small domestic land based oil & gas business, German companies have developed a high expertise in most areas of the complete value chain of the onshore and offshore oil & gas industry. The quality and reliability of their products and services has positioned the German maritime industry to be a reliable partner for their oil and gas producing clients all over the world. This expertise is based partly on their experience of the German oil sector but also on their experience from other sectors like mining and civil engineering, chemical and petrochemical industry, mechanical engineering and, last but not least, shipbuilding which they have adapted to the industries needs and classification requirements. All these sectors have one thing in common with the offshore oil and gas industry: They demand high quality and reliability in order to guarantee safe and economical operation and high operational availability over the complete lifecycle.

Since years, the German maritime supply industry has been increasingly using digitization, both software and hardware. Connecting the physical and digital world of production and operation, digitization has contributed to integrate and support production processes for the client, making them leaner, more efficient and safer. The so-called 4th industrial revolution, in Germany known as “Industrie 4.0”, has opened the door to smart products and processes as well as new business models. The German maritime industry is well prepared to use digitization, in cooperation with their clients, to further enhance efficiency and promote new business.

German companies offer a wide range of products and services, parts like screws, components like specialized pumps and highly efficient propulsion systems to complete systems like drilling platforms. The German maritime industry focuses on safe, sustainable, environment-friendly technologies and equipment for the offshore sector. These products meet exceptional safety standards and are well known for their high performance and efficiency of operation.

At this year’s OTC 76 exhibitors will showcase future-oriented ocean technologies and maritime equipment for the offshore sector. On behalf of German exhibitors, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA), German Engineering Federation – Marine Equipment and Systems (VDMA) and German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association (VSM) are delighted to welcome you to the official German presentation at OTC 2017.
