World Trade and Investment Network

Qatar has taken a significant step in its position in the global diamond industry with the launch of the Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) in the Ras Bufontas Free Zone.

The new platform offers an integrated ecosystem for rough and polished diamond trading, along with secure vaulting, certification services, 100% foreign ownership, and a zero corporate tax environment. By positioning itself as a strategic gateway between diamond-producing nations and key consumer markets, Qatar is clearly aiming to become an important player in the global diamond value chain.

For Surat—the world’s largest diamond cutting and polishing hub—this is a development worth watching. As new international trading centres emerge, they have the potential to reshape sourcing routes, financing, logistics, and market access. While established centres will continue to play a dominant role, additional trading hubs can create new opportunities for manufacturers, exporters, and buyers through greater connectivity and increased competition.

At WTI Network, with our headquarters in the United States and our representative office in Surat, we continuously monitor developments that help our clients anticipate market shifts and identify new international business opportunities.
