Background on fire safety
Worldwide fires continue to cause huge losses to life and property.
(See footnotes for fire losses). While forest and wildfires are the ones that catch the attention of news cycles; its the residential and commercial fires that on a daily basis take their toll.
Many new technologies are being developed and commercialized in different parts of the world. These products and technologies need wider promotion and distribution.

How does it work ?
Each System incorporates a Controlled Descent Device, commonly referred to as a “CDD”. The CDD works like a pulley. In operation, a user slides an Escape Harness over them, steps over the ledge and slowly descends at the rate of 3 feet per second.
This speed can be compered to a very slow elevator. As they descend, the opposite end of the cable automatically rises and reloads the CDD for the next evacuee. Escape Harnesses are permanently attached at each end of the cable, however full fire resistant Evacuation Suits are available.

Losses to fires – Estimates from U.S.
Key findings – Fire losses in the United States during 2017. The full report and lots of additional data is available at this link on the website of National Fire Protection Association.
- Public fire departments responded to 1,319,500 fires in 2017, a slight decrease of 2% from the previous year.
- Every 24 seconds, a fire department in the United States responds to a fire somewhere in the nation. A fire occurs in a structure at the rate of one every 63 seconds, and a home fire occurs every 88 seconds.
- Seventy-seven percent of all fire deaths occurred in the home, a decrease of 4% compared to 2016.
- Home fires were responsible for 10,600 civilian injuries, or 72% of all civilian injuries, in 2017.
- An estimated $23 billion in property damage occurred as a result of fire in 2017, a large increase, as this number includes a $10 billion loss in wildfires in Northern California.
- An estimated 22,500 structure fires were intentionally set in 2017, an increase of 13% over the year before.
